From May 1st untill August 30st you’ll find at the Catholic Documentation Centre in Nijmegen a small display on the works of ‘Edward Schillebeeckx (1914-2009)’. The display is situated at the first floor of the University Library in Nijmegen and is opened on workdays from 9h untill 5h. Hilkert also holds a public lecture in English as visiting professor at the Radboud University Nijmegen on behalf of the Edward Schillebeeckx Foundation. This lecture – ‘Edward Schillebeeckx. The Theological Legacy’ – is part of the here under mentioned masterclass, but it can also be vistited seperately.

Prof. dr. Mary Catherine Hilkert, Notre Dame University, Indiana, USA, will teach this May a serie of masterclasses on the life and theology of Schillebeeckx. She is one of the most profound Schillebeeckx experts. The classes are organized by the Radboud University Nijmegen and the Edward Schillebeeckx Foundation.
The course is taught in evenings (May 11 – June 1). In attachment you find the course programme. Active participation is expected, as most part is taken by critical textreading. Primary literature is, against a small fee, available at the start of the course. Secondary literature has to be bought individually on forehand.
Please register before May 7th. Costs: 80 euro (incl. Soeterbeeck-lecture); alumni and students free. You can register by emailing to s.vanerp@rs.ru.nl. The subscription is definitive by payment of the entrance fee.
Tijdschrift voor Theologie organizes, in cooperation with the Edward Schillebeeckx Foundation, a biennial essay contest for young theologians and religious studies scholars (maximum age of contestants: 35). Edward Schillebeeckx was founder of the Tijdschrift voor Theologie in 1960.
First prize: a sum of € 1000 and publication of the essay in the Tijdschrift voor Theologie. Second prize: a sum of € 250 and publication of the essay on the website of the Tijdschrift voor Theologie.
Participants are asked to submit an essay consisting of an original academic reflection on a subject concerning the relation between religious beliefs and modern culture, from the point of view of either theology, philosophy of religion or religious studies and in an appropriately literary style. This essay or article should present an original, new view on current phenomena or issues. The essay should have a minimum of 4000 and a maximum of 5000 words (including notes). It can be submitted in either Dutch, English, German or French.
This essay contest is open to authors who are currently completing or have completed an academic education in either theology, religious studies or a related discipline and who have not reached the age of 36 on 1 July 2010. Authors do not need to have the Dutch or Flemish nationality and do not have to live in either of these countries.

In April there will be published a collection – in dutch, with English summary – of articles on the theology of Edward Schillebeeckx. This edition will appear as a special issue of the ‘Tijdschrift voor Theologie‘, and as a book by Boom Publishers. De title: ‘Trouw aan Gods toekomst: De blijvende betekenis van Edward Schillebeeckx’ (free translation: Faitfull to Gods future: The remaining meaning of Edward Schillebeecckx) (red. S. van Erp).
