The past years, the Foundation made a lot of effort to realize the publication of an 11-volume Collected Works of Edward Schillebeeckx. The Collected Works are for sale at Bloomsbury at 10% discount.

At December 23, we remember the death of Edward Schillebeeckx. In 2009 we said our farewells to this great  theologian, but above all: to a wonderful human being.

November 12 was the 99th birthday of Edward Schillebeeckx. We remember him with love and compassion. Meanwhile, we are busy transforming 2014 into a year of Schillebeeckx’ activities. Definitely: to be continued.

From August 27th-30th 2014, a theological conference will be held in honour of Edward Schillebeeckx’ 100th birthday. The conference is organized by the Faculty of Philosophy, Theology and Religious Studies of the Radboud University Nijmegen in collaboration with the Faculty of Theology and Religious Studies of the Catholic University Leuven, Heythrop College London, and the Edward Schillebeeckx Foundation.

Key note speakers include Lieven Boeve, Erik Borgman, William Cavanaugh, Siobhán Garrigan, Emmanuel Katongole, Sebastian Kim, Annemarie Mayer, Aristotle Papanikolau, Elizabeth Phillips, Anna Rowlands and Graham Ward, and many others.

In 2012, Notre Dame professor and Schillebeeckx expert Catherine Hilkert visited the Radboud University Nijmegen to lecture a Masterclass on the theology of Edward Schillebeeckx. This resulted in in several interesting essays by participating students,  inspired the theology of Edward Schillebeeckx. We present one of the essays: “Reflections on Schillebeeckx and spiritual care” (Hans Hamers).

At December 13, 2013, from 20.00 untill 22.00 o’clock,  Rowan Williams (1945) – until December 2012 Archbischop of Canterbury – will present the Edward Schillebeeckx Lecture (in English). The lecture is organised by the Soeterbeeckx Programme, and will take place at the Radboud Universy Nijmegen. A new year, new plans. Although our foundation is just small, we are working on some rather extensive projects. For instance, we are rethinking the nature and content of our chair. Previous years, prof. dr. Catherine Hilkert (Notre Dame University, USA) has been visiting us to teach some succesfull and intensive master classes on Schillebeeckx theology. Her appointment as visiting professor would end after 3 years. What now? Een new visiting scholar, some intensive master classes by varying professors, someone form within the Dutch and Belgium context, or someone special from abroad … we are considering all options. Second, there has been a lot of effort to realize a 11-part volume of Collected Works Edward Schillebeeckx in English. What a job, what a job! Texts are translated, corrected, and given a modern lay-out. It sure will be the standard book on Schillebeeckx. Last, we have the Edward Schillebeeckx Essay Price. What a fine opportunity to focus on Schillebeeckx’ theology, form the perspective of young theologians.  We are looking forward to read all these fine essays.
